Grinder set at 25 degrees. I put light pressure on the blade with my right thumb and lightly press with the fingers on my left hand close to the edge.   I use my fingers to feel when the blade is getting too hot.

Blade Sharpening

The skew rabbet plane blade has a 22° skew and is ground with a 30° bevel.  Since the blade is installed bevel down, the cutting angle is determined by the bed angle; in this case, 45°.
