I used Tom’s suggestion in the previous post to hold the rail while using the No. 48 (video here) to make the groove. This work holding method was very efficient and the grooves were done in a snap. A little bit more fitting of the panel and the the door will be done.
Marilyn, glad all went groovey with the grooving. Where did you get your No. 48? Was it new or used? Keep up the great and fun work.
LOL! I think I bought it used on ebay. Its very much a specialty plane, but it does its job extremely well.
I have ordered No.48 today. You are responsible for.
Do not post more such things please!

Ha! 😀 Now .. if I can only figure out how to get LN to give me a cut from such influence. Maww ha, ha! 😉
I think you’re the marketing director of LN
🙂
who did you order the No. 48 from? I only see a No. 44 style on Lee Valley web page. Thanks.
Oh sorry, its a Lie Nielsen plane – http://www.lie-nielsen.com/joinery-planes/tongue-and-groove-planes/. I updated to post to include the link as well.
You and also purchase a conversion kit for your veritas plow plane to do the same thing – http://www.leevalley.com/US/wood/page.aspx?p=69741&cat=1,230,41182,43698,69741

Nice looking grooves, I still struggle with that. More practice…
This is why I like the No. 48 so much. It does a great job w/o a lot of struggle.
And I’m with you, must practice more with plow plane. Sand paper also cleans up a multitude of sins.
