Installing Euro Hinges

Here’s a quick blow by blow.

Doors and hinge installation

Today I worked on my resawn panels, cleaned them up and put the panels into the frame.  AND THEN .. I installed one set of the hinges.  I’ve never installed “euro hinges”, so I wasn’t sure how it would turn out.  Check out the video at the end to see how I did.

I’ll post more tomorrow on how I did the hinge installation on the second door.

Door making and my favorite time in the work shop

I love being in my workshop in the morning.  I have an east facing window up high and the morning sunlight streams through it on a a nice day until about 10 am.  Having sunshine beaming in my window and the doors open to let in the cool morning breezes make for a wonderful atmosphere in the shop.

Such was the case for my Saturday morning work on the doors.  Here are a few shots of my most enjoyable morning.

Installing the hinges

I did a step by step of the hinge installation for anyone whose interested .. and .. so I don’t forget how I did it.  I used card scrapers on all for sides to create the proper spacing.  The card scraper just happens to be the same thickness as the hinge washer.

I used Tom’s suggestion in the previous post to hold the rail while using the No. 48 (video here) to make the groove.  This work holding method was very efficient and the grooves were done in a snap.  A little bit more fitting of the panel and the the door will be done.
