More Drawer Progress

I’m always surprised how much time things take.  The drawers have taken a surprising amount fiddling and fitting.  But they’re done and ready for fronts.

Don’t feel too badly. I’m a semi-retired finish carpenter/cabinet maker and I too am constantly surprised by how much time I can spend fiddling with drawer guides. A pain in the rear end, in my opinion.

    That is looking really good!

  3. I’ve had the same fiddling experience Marilyn. The fun part will be putting on the drawer fronts and hardware. Like you, I’ve gone “new” for my joinery planes. That skew rabbet is a dream to use.

I’m curious about the little dowels you have added to the dovetailed joints at the back of the drawers (last picture). It’s a pretty little detail and I wonder why they are there.

    • Marilyn says:

The joints on the drawers are box joints that I did on my table saw. They were a tiny bit looser than I wanted them to be. And since the drawers will constantly get yanked back and forth, I added those tiny little dowles to make sure the joints stay together.

They’re actually the bamboo shikabob skewers you buy at the grocery store .. but don’t tell anybody. 😉
