Signing my work and making grooves – Bedside table

Signing my name with letter and number punch.
In order to groove the bottom rail, I set my double marking gauge to the width of the plow plane blade.
Then scored the edges of the groove to prevent tear out.
Using the plow to make the groove.
Final groove.

I used a Paul Seller’s work holding method and a Rockler clamp to hold the board while I plowed the groove.  I was pretty happy with how well it worked.  I clamped the edges of the piece in the clamp and then clamped the clamp in my vise.

Measuring for the panel.
Chamfering the leading edge of the rabbet.
Raising the panel.
Using spacers to center the panel.
And gluing it up!

 

Bedside Table – a bit more progress – leg bevels,drawer slides and kickers

Here’s a quick step by step on how I cut the bevels on the legs with a few progress shots.

Checking the layout to make sure I did it correctly.
Setting the lines with a marking knife.
Sawing the bevels.
Surface after sawing and a little chisel clean up.
Cleaning up the pair with my No. 4.
Finished surface.
