Finishing up the fold down front

First I laid out the hinge with a marking knife and scored the waste with my chisel.
Then I removed most of the waste with a freshly sharpened chisel.
Then I set up the small router to the thickness of the hinge.
And used it to go to final thickness.
Hinge in.
This is the last stretcher piece to go in.
Tail laid out on the front leg.
Slicing the grain to create the tail slot.
Tail in (sorry about the crappy photo).
Final stretcher in!

I’m sooooo close to being done I’m staring to think hard about my next project.  I need to install the key board tray pull out and put on the finish.  Yippee!

Creating the key board drawer front

After sawing the 45 degree angle, I double checked it.
Then I set up the jointer and gauge fence for clean up.
The fence helped keep the angle as I cleaned off the saw marks.
Then I did a final localized clean up with my block plane.
After I cleaned up, I double check the angle again.
Then I used my small router to create a mortise for the hinges.
One side of the hinge done.

Above is the process I used to create the fold down drawer front for the pull out key board tray.  The drawer front is not yet cut to size so it will be significantly smaller.
