Remember the TV Lift Cabinet

I haven’t blogged about it since .. sheez .. March (Everything’s better with a face frame even the view from above). I’ve managed to get my knee functioning well again .. without surgery but with lots of PT. So I’m back in the saddle and had some time this weekend to work on the lift cabinet.

Top and shelves installed.

Another look at the top. Now you can see the box for the TV.

I used my jack plane to bevel the top.

Now, on to the drawers.

I’ll be using drawer glides for this drawer.

Everything’s better with a face frame even the view from above

I’ve gotten as far as the front face frame. I still need to do a frame on the other three sides and then on to drawers and doors. Click on picture to enlarge.

Edge banding and glue up

I used Tico’s process to attach edge banding on some of the plywood. After that I was able glue up the case.

I used dominoes to put the case together.

Dominoes go in easily and line things up nicely.

After gluing on the edge banding I used my bull nose plane to clean glue.

Then trimmed the edge banding flush.

Case glued up.

Next Project – TV Lift Cabinet

Yes, plywood .. I’m using plywood for this project.

Plywood, especially full sheets of 3/4″ are a pain to work with. I already miss my hand planes. Turns out, I’ve never made a plywood furniture project.
