Now that’s a hand cut moulding!

Reproducing Traditional Molding for the Alvah Kittredge House.
Here a a couple of more shots and options. Which width of the moulding looks best? I used my trial moulding (made of alder) and ripped it to 1 3/4″ and then to 1 1/2″. The feet are 5″ high so the 1 1/2″ is one third of that.

Here are a couple of more shot of the 1 1/2″
I kinda like the 1 1/2″. What about you?
I used Matt Bickford’s Mouldings in Practice to do the lay out, a rabbet (rebate) plane and a No. 6 hollow to make this moulding. I also used milled on six side straight grained Sapele. Hopefully, the pictures explain the steps sufficiently.
So I got a few minuets at the end of my week of vacation to take my new rabbet plane out for a spin. Here’s my first attempt a simple moulding.
